About the Student Empowerment Award:
Nominations for the 2027 Student Empowerment Award will open in Fall 2026. The award honors a Milwaukee County resident who has made a significant impact by helping students and young professionals develop the academic and personal skills necessary for success in higher education, their careers, and life. The recipient(s) will be recognized during the annual Milwaukee's Finest Scholarship Awards Celebration.
Award Qualifications:
An individual who currently lives in Milwaukee County,
An individual who actively engages with students and young professionals (ages 13-24) in Milwaukee County by helping them achieve their full academic and leadership potential,
An individual who encourages students and young professionals to pursue their higher educational goals and various scholarship opportunities,
An individual who demonstrates excellence, creativity, and initiative at a school, nonprofit, business, or organization for which they work or volunteer,
An individual who provides students and young professionals with the academic tools and/or personal skills necessary for success in higher education and life.
How to Nominate:
Milwaukee's Finest Board of Trustees will choose an awardee based on the quality of the nomination submitted rather than the number of nominations. Therefore, the nomination form should outline the nominees' professional accomplishments, demonstrated leadership, and community contributions toward students and young professionals. The candidate can not be a current member of Milwaukee's Finest Scholarship Review Committee.
