Milwaukee’s Finest selects 2022 Student Empowerment Award Recipient

MILWAUKEE – Today, Milwaukee’s Finest Scholarship Foundation (MFSF) is proud to announce Andre Douglas as the inaugural recipient of the 2022 Student Empowerment Award. This award honors a Milwaukee County resident who has made a substantial impact on students by helping them establish academic and personal skills necessary for success in higher education and life. 

Andre Douglas serves as the Senior Director of Graduation Plus and Leadership & Service for Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Milwaukee. Propelled by his servant leadership, Andre strives to make everyone around him better as they strive for excellence in all they do. A first-generation college graduate, Andre has helped thousands of teens and young adults find their pathway to and through college. In addition, Andre has coached and mentored thousands of students to and through college during his career. Many students credit Andre for their success because of his support and passion.

Since 2013, Andre has served in various leadership roles at Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Milwaukee, including Program Manager, Interim Director, and Director. In addition, he has helped develop new programs, grants, and budget opportunities and was a part of the inaugural team that helped launch the Ready Center powered by the Milwaukee Admirals. Andre’s passion and leadership have been recognized by the Young Nonprofit Professionals Network (2021, Distinguished Professional Award), The Milwaukee Times Newspaper (2020, Black Excellence Award for Community Involvement), and the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater (2019, Outstanding Recent Alumni Award). Andre’s purpose in life is to help other people find theirs.

Andre earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater and his Master of Science Degree from Concordia University Wisconsin. Andre enjoys traveling, golfing, volunteering at his church, and the NBA in his spare time.

Nominations for this award were due on March 22, 2022, and reviewed by Milwaukee’s Finest Board of Trustees. Mr. Douglas will be honored during the Milwaukee’s Finest Scholarship Awards at Milwaukee City Hall on Saturday, June 18, 2022, at 3:00 p.m. This event will be free and open to the public.
