Milwaukee’s Finest selects Chandar Robertson as 2024 Student Empowerment Award Recipient
MILWAUKEE – Today, Milwaukee’s Finest Scholarship Foundation (MFSF) is proud to announce Chandar Robertson as the 2024 recipient of the Student Empowerment Award. This award honors a Milwaukee County resident who has made a substantial impact on students by helping them establish academic and personal skills necessary for success in higher education and life.
As a first-generation college graduate himself, Chandar serves as the Senior Program Manager of Financial Aid, Data, and Collegian Outreach Services for Graduation Plus College Access & Success Services at Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Milwaukee. Chandar has built a foundation for over a decade, serving students and families as they navigate the college financial aid process. Many students fail to attend college due to the confusing process of securing funding opportunities to offset the growing costs of earning a post-secondary degree. Chandar has made it his personal goal to approach each student and their family using various learning modalities designed to break down securing money for college into understandable terms and action items.
Before his current role, he worked as a Financial Aid Assistant in the Educational Opportunity Program at Marquette University and as a College Access Advisor at Great Lakes Higher Education Guaranty Corporation. Furthermore, Chandar is a proud Marquette University Graduate where he learned to both “Be the Difference” and to “Go forth and set the world on fire.” In addition, as a TRiO Alum, the Educational Opportunity Program at Marquette provided him with the same support and guidance that he strives to give back to all he encounters daily. Chandar has been an integral part and leader of a team designed to review applications and make admissions decisions.
Chandar enjoys working in the community and helping students achieve their goals and dreams. In 2023, the Wisconsin Association of College Admissions Counselors (WACAC) selected Chandar as the High School Counseling Professional of the Year. He is also honored to have served on the team Graduation Plus, which was selected as the Mentoring Program of the Year by Mentor Greater Milwaukee, powered by the Milwaukee Bucks.
Chandar will be honored during the Milwaukee’s Finest Scholarship Awards at Milwaukee City Hall on Saturday, June 29, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. This event will be free and open to the public.
