Milwaukee’s Finest Announces 2022 Scholarship Recipients

MILWAUKEE – Today Milwaukee’s Finest Scholarship Foundation (MFSF), Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley, and Milwaukee Mayor Cavalier Johnson announced the recipients of the 2022 Scholarship Awards. In partnership with local businesses, organizations, and community members, MFSF will award 19 high school seniors with the Milwaukee’s Finest Scholarship ranging up to $2,000 each. More than 245 students from 21 different high schools applied for funding, making Milwaukee’s Finest one of the most competitive scholarship opportunities in the county.

“At the core of our city are students dedicated to their education. It’s important we continue to do all we can to support them as they begin their professional careers,” said Founder and President of Milwaukee’s Finest Scholarship Foundation, Jerel Ballard. “I congratulate each of our recipients on their accomplishments, and I look forward to their futures.”

“Ensuring our students have the financial resources to further their education puts them on the right path for success,” said Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley. “These scholarships can be used for tuition, school supplies, transportation, and housing, making their transition to higher education easier.”

Student applications were scored and reviewed by a Scholarship Review Panel consisting of 25 local parents, educators, college students, and city officials. Roughly 88% of all applicants reside in the City of Milwaukee and attend Milwaukee Public Schools. Applicants were required to have a cumulative grade point average of 2.5, participate in extracurricular activities, and demonstrate a need for funding.

“I applaud Milwaukee Public Schools for ensuring our students take advantage of all scholarship opportunities available and encourage them to apply for funding,” said Milwaukee Mayor Cavalier Johnson. “Thank you to the Scholarship Review Panel for your service, and congratulations to all scholarship recipients.”
